Simon, an American HongKonger, has navigated a diverse career spanning media, business strategy, and cultural advocacy. During Simon’s tenure at Apple Daily, Hong Kong’s leading news organization, Simon contributed as the editorial columnist, sharing perspectives on business, economics, and politics. In a parallel role, Simon was also the “intrapreneur” who drive the strategy for the innovation and growth of the media house.
The shifting political environment in Hong Kong in 2020 led Simon to make a significant life decision, returning to the United States before the National Security Law was implemented. Simon founded Unsubject, a startup blending media and education with a membership-based model, reflecting a continued passion for informed discourse and learning.
Beyond business endeavors, Simon is deeply committed to supporting the Hongkonger diaspora. This work focuses on maintaining and celebrating Hong Kong’s unique cultural identity, fostering a sense of community and connection among those far from home. Additionally, Simon was a co-founder of The Lion Rock Institute, a free-market think tank based in Hong Kong.
