I am a Professor of Sociology of Development at the University of Mostaganem in Algeria, where I teach Economics 101 to first-year social science students and supervise PhD students in integrating cultural approaches into entrepreneurship studies. Since 2019, I have organized a series of events to promote a culture of peace and religious pluralism. Each year on May 16th, to celebrate the International Day for Living Together in Peace, I organize panels, conferences, and training sessions. These events aim to promote the culture of living together in peace by inviting leaders from various religious backgrounds (Sufi, Ibadite, Catholic, and Protestant) to discuss issues such as protecting religious heritage, reinforcing civil society, and responding to COVID-19. This year, I am planning training on the capacity of Faith-Based Organizations to respond to disasters and crises.

I work with Sufi organizations in Algeria, particularly with a local association linked to AISA International (Association International Sufi Alawiya), an NGO officially accredited as a partner by the UN and its Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in areas such as the Culture of Peace. The President of AISA, Sheikh Khaled Bentounes, was the initiator of the International Day of Living Together in Peace on May 16th.

Currently, I am focusing on projects to reinforce the culture of peace in my country by collaborating with and supporting Sufi organizations. My goal is to promote an inclusive Islam for all, produce Sufi narratives that counter extremism and fundamentalism, and enhance tolerance and acceptance in society so that people can live together in peace.
