John Mugabi is an outstanding advocate for freedom and human rights. Born in a country that has never witnessed a peaceful political transition since gaining independence in 1962, he has seen witness the injustices inflicted on people in his community due to their liberty, free speech, choices, and identity. Determined to make a difference, John started Students for Liberty – Uganda to educate students about the beauty of individual liberty, free markets, peace, and civil society.

He has received several awards, including the Face of Entebbe Young Activist Award, the Human Rights Defender Award, and a Land Rights Accolade in 2023. Mugabi’s unwavering commitment to liberty and prosperity led him to establish Uganda’s first Libertarian think tank, dedicated to promoting a free and prosperous Uganda through entrepreneurship and individual liberty. Through his tireless efforts, John has become a prominent voice for freedom, inspiring many young people, scholars, politicians, and academics to join the fight for a free and prosperous society.
