
Iftikhar Ahmad

Iftikhar Ahmad is a Pakistani journalist and human rights activist, focusing on the Tribal areas of Ex-FATA/Pakistan. His work involves mobilizing tribal communities, civil society organizations (CSOs), community elders, and youth on issues such as fundamental rights, democracy, education, and the empowerment of women and youth. He has collaborated with organizations like the UN, USAID, World Bank, British Council, SDC, and DFID in these challenging and conflicted regions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and in the KPK province.
Currently, Iftikhar serves as the Executive Director of Tribal Rights Watch (TRW), a registered organization that is part of numerous national and international networks and alliances, including UNODC-Crime Alliance (Vienna, Austria), Amnesty International, SDPI-SANSAR (South Asian Network of Sustainability, Accountability, and Reliability), INEE (Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies), IPB (International Peace Bureau), CSC (Consortium of Street Children), Girls Not Brides (UK), CRM (Child Rights Movement FATA), and NACG (National Action Coordination Group).
Through national media, Iftikhar highlights human and children’s rights and organizes activities in the FATA/Tribal Area focused on educational improvement, peacebuilding, democracy, and empowerment, in partnership with donors and NGOs. His initiatives include enhancing teacher training, forming parent-teacher committees, and increasing tribal student enrollment through the FSF (FATA Student Federation). Recently, he launched a Human Rights/Peace Building campaign, forming local committees to advocate for rights and maintain peace in their areas.
