The Stolen Republic – Untold Facts Behind the Collapse of Afghanistan’s Last Republic

On March 10, 2026, Khalid Ramizy, Founder and CEO of the World Anti Extremism Network (WAEN), will speak at the University of Ottawa about his book, ‘The Stolen Republic: Untold Facts Behind the Collapse of Afghanistan’s Last Republic.’

This lecture will uncover the lesser-known factors behind the collapse of Afghanistan’s last republican government in August 2021 and the resurgence of the Taliban. Using his experience as a young Afghan leader and human rights activist, Mr. Ramizy will explore how political errors, internal vulnerabilities, and international pressures combined to bring down the NATO-backed government. He will also share his vision for an Afghanistan where democratic values thrive alongside stability and freedom.

The discussion will be chaired by Dr. Paul Robinson.
