The book “Until Further Notice” is a qualitative research study based on phenomenological inquiry. It is comprised of interviews conducted with forty women and girls who have been denied their right to education and their right to work.

This book focuses mainly on the evolving role of women in Afghan society amid the hardships they face. It also reflects the difficult realities Afghan women live through, yet also shows their resilience. It is highlighted in the book that even in such dark times, many women have found ways to keep moving forward. Some have even started small businesses to build opportunities for themselves and hold on to their place in society. This work also explores the broader history of the struggle for women’s rights in Afghanistan, the progress made over the years, and the setbacks they have faced since August 15, 2021. Most importantly, it gives a voice to the narratives of women and girls who have been cut off from education and denied the right to work.
