
Zahir Syed

Zahir Syed, hailing from a rural area in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan, is dedicated to peacebuilding, conflict resolution, human rights, religious harmony, gender equality, youth empowerment, and social cohesion. Growing up in a region impacted by Talibanization and extremism, he has committed himself to transforming his community, as well as the global community, through education, social activism, research, cultural diplomacy, and climate action.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from GC University Lahore and a Master of Philosophy in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Peshawar. He has been active in various academic, social, and political societies, with multiple research publications in the field of extremism and peace-building, which have helped him develop his leadership and advocacy skills. With over five years of experience, he has worked as a content writer, researcher, and administrator, contributing to projects with the Prison Department, Farm TW Studio, and Abdali Education System. Currently, he serves as a section head at an educational institute and leads SPIN SAHAR, an NGO focused on peace-building, gender equality, climate change, youth empowerment, and community engagement.
His work extends to the District Reconciliation Council (DRS) and Waak Tehrik, where he focuses on gender equality and women’s empowerment. His research on peace-building and regional connectivity has been published, contributing to critical discussions in the realm of conflict resolution and peace-building. He has been driven by a vision to eradicate extremism, work for a more equal and just society, empower youth, promote gender equality, and create a cleaner, more inclusive environment, and he continues to make significant strides in his community. His commitment to peace and social development positions him as a key figure in the ongoing efforts to bring positive change to his region in the realm of peace-building and conflict resolution.
