Zafar Khan is a lecturer in the Sociology Department at the University of Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Zafar Khan focuses his research work on youth radicalization, extremism, decolonial sociology and counter-radicalization. He did a PhD on Assessing Cultural Distortion in the Wake of Counter-terrorism Strategies and the Growing Radicalization in Pashtun Society. He is particularly interested in the cultural and ideological roots of extremism in the Pashtun region. He also completed a research project titled “Teaching Tolerance or Promoting Violence?” An Evaluation of the Education System in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan funded by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. He is an active member of civil society and works for the rights of children and people with disabilities. In addition to his academic activities, he serves as a consultant on various projects funded by INGOs. He also organized different conferences on the importance of cultural diversity and youth radicalization in Pakistan.
