Imamudin Hamdard

Imamudin Hamdard is a development practitioner, civil society leader, and refugee advocate with more than 20 years of professional experience in project management, development cooperation, peacebuilding, labour rights, migration, and community engagement. He is the Founder and Chairman of the Afghanistan Studies & Cooperation Center (ASCC) e.V., a non-profit organization based in Bonn, Germany, dedicated to supporting Afghan refugees, migrants, and diaspora communities through education, integration, capacity building, advocacy, and intercultural dialogue.

Prior to relocating to Germany, Mr. Hamdard held various leadership and management positions with national and international organizations, including Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES), Women for Women International, the French Cultural Center in Afghanistan, and the Islamic Bank of Afghanistan. During his nearly decade-long service with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, he coordinated regional programs focusing on peace and security, labour rights, democratic participation, and civil society development.

In addition to his role at Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES)  Afghanistan, Mr. Hamdard serves as an International Relations Adviser to the National Union of Afghanistan Workers and Employees (NUAWE) and has collaborated with a wide range of international organizations, labour unions, research institutions, and diaspora networks across Europe and Asia. His areas of expertise include migration and refugee protection, labour rights, community development, project management, social inclusion, diaspora engagement, and intercultural cooperation.

Currently, he leads several initiatives supporting Afghan communities in Europe, including information campaigns, needs assessments, educational programmes, and community-based integration projects. Through his work, he advocates for the meaningful participation of refugees and diaspora communities in policy discussions and development processes.

Mr. Hamdard holds both a Master’s and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and can speak Pashto, Dari, English, German, French, and Urdu.
