Ilam Khan

Dr. Ilam Khan is an accomplished scholar and a dedicated advocate for peacebuilding and community resilience. He holds a PhD in Peace and Conflict Studies, complemented by a master’s degree in Political Science and International Relations. Currently, Dr. Khan serves as a postdoctoral fellow in the UKRI-funded project on child protection in Pakistani communities, based at Riphah International University, Islamabad, in collaboration with the University of Bradford, UK.

Dr. Khan’s research focuses on post-conflict peacebuilding, rehabilitation, reintegration, and community-based approaches to fostering peace. He has a particular interest in nonviolent movements and gender inclusion in political and social endeavors. His expertise in these areas is reflected in his numerous publications, including a well-regarded book on the rehabilitation, deradicalization, and reintegration of militants. His work is informed by both academic rigor and a deep commitment to addressing the challenges facing post-conflict societies.

In addition to his academic work, Dr. Khan is an active member of political and social movements in Pakistan. Since 2018, he has been a founding member of the “Da Ranra Malgri” (Friends of Light), a chain of study circles in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. These study circles focus on a broad range of topics, including peace, community resilience, religion, and politics, fostering critical discussions and collective learning within the community.

Dr. Khan also contributes to the academic development of students and professionals. He delivers lectures on research in post-conflict societies and ethnography, and supervises and trains university students in their research endeavors. His dedication to peacebuilding, community engagement, and education continues to shape the discourse in his field and influence the next generation of scholars and activists.
